LAND PLANNING/CONSERVATION:
LAND CONSERVATION
Conservation Strategies
New West Land Company is in the unique position of being able to navigate both the for-profit and not-for-profit economic sectors to complete conservation plans and transactions. We work with rural landowners, real estate investors, land trusts and conservation organizations in different capacities, yet always with the same goal: to maximize the return on economic, ecological, and cultural investments.
The goal of our work- healthy re-engagement with the Land- derives from sustained action on physical, cultural, economic and spiritual levels. New West Land Company defines a new variety of professional services that are not bound by conventional understanding and preconceptions of the role of an architect, planner, or environmentalist. We strive instead to integrate all of these perspectives into one visionary approach to the places we live in, laying the groundwork for new relationships to emerge.
Our conservation-based services include:
conservation plan design- to support the goals of conservation-minded land owners and investors, including through our partners the design of ecological restoration and conservation easement based tax and estate planning.
conservation development- the selective and place-appropriate inhabitation of portions of these landscapes on order to develop sustainable funding mechanisms and locate the educated caretakers required to ensure the lasting stewardship of critical lands.
conservation land scouting- the identification and/or evaluation of ecologically and culturally critical lands- for purchase by investors or for partnering with the land owner to bring about lasting protections and responsible economic returns for all parties in the transaction, including the Land itself.
conservation investments- the identification of individual and group investors appropriate to the funding of our conservation projects, and conversely, the identification and creation of projects for conservation-minded real estate investors. A key mechanism for this service type is the Conservation Land Group.
